Q: When is the deadline to buy a dining plan?
A: Students living in the residence halls have to select their dining plan when they reserve their room. Otherwise, there is no deadline for purchasing dining plans.
top

Q: What are the benefits to having a dining plan?
A: It’s a long list: value, convenience, cashless, quality, freshness, taste… and don’t forget fun! Eating on campus makes it easy to keep up your energy level, so you have more time to spend with your friends. Commuter/Greek Life students will have the flexibility to dine anywhere on campus with the purchase of a FREEDOM PLAN. Commuter/Greek Life

Q: Do I have to buy a dining plan?
A: Students living in the residence halls are required to purchase a dining plan. Any UI student can purchase a dining plan if they wish to do so. Dining Plans

Q: Which dining plan is right for me?
A: We offer a variety of dining plans in order to best serve students. To figure out the right plan for you, start by thinking about your eating habits. Are you a “grazer” who grabs a bagel in the morning and a salad for dinner? Or do you need three square meals a day to function properly? We have options perfect for either type of eater, and for everyone in between. For the details of each plan, visit our Dining Plan page.
top

Q: Where can I eat on campus? And when?
A: For a complete list of Campus Dining locations and hours, please visit our Locations page.
top

Q: I’m a freshman this year (or a sophomore, junior, senior). What dining plans am I eligible for?
A: Please check out the chart on our Dining Plans page.
top

Q: I’m a freshman living in the LLC. Can I buy the other plans offered?
A: Since dining plan eligibility is determined by class year, you are eligible for the same plans as other freshmen. Please see the previous question for a list, or check out the chart on the Dining Plans page.
top

Q: Where can I use my Freedom Plan?
A: You may use your Freedom Plan at any Campus Dining location. Please visit our Campus Map for all locations.
top

Q: I’m considering one of the weekly dining plans. When does my new allotment of meals start each week?
A: All meals reset Monday mornings at 12:01 a.m. each week.
top

Q: What is the difference between a “meal” in Bob's Place and the “a la carte” pricing that is used everywhere else?
A: At Bob's Place, everything is served buffet-style, or all-you-care-to-eat. Each time you come to Wallace Food Court, just swipe your Vandal Card and one “meal” will be deducted from your plan total. At the other campus dining locations, each item has a fixed price. At the cash register, your items will be totaled and deducted from your Flex Dollar balance, just as if you were using a regular debit card.
top

Q: Is Late Night an all-you-care-to-eat meal?
A. Yes.
top

Q: Where can I use my meals?
A: Meals are only good at Bob's Place, unless you have signed up for the Platinum Upgrade. Flex Dollars can be used at any Campus Dining location.
top

Q: Can I take food out of Bob's Place?
A: Yes – All meals at Wallace Food Court are “all-you-care-to-eat”, not “all-you-care-to-eat for the rest of the day, week or month.” But we do offer the To-Go Program which DOES let you take one clamshell of food and a Beverage out for a meal swipe.
top

Q: Can I add more money to my flex or Freedom account?
A: Yes. You may add more money to your account any time during the semester and receive a bonus. When you add to your flex account you will receive a 15% bonus or FREE money. When you add money to your Freedom Plan you will receive a 10% bonus or FREE money.
top

Q: Can I change my dining plan?
A:You may change (decrease or increase) your dining plan anytime during the first two weeks of the semester. You may increase your dining plan through the fourth week of the semester.
top

Q: How do I access my dining plan?
A: The dining plan option you choose is applied directly to your University of Idaho student ID, also called your Vandal Card.
top

Q: What are Flex Dollars and where can I use them?
A: Flex Dollars are like having a debit account solely dedicated to your on-campus meal expenses. The All Access and Weekly dining plans all come with set amounts of Flex Dollars, which are added to your Vandal Card at the beginning of the semester. Flex Dollars can be used at any Campus Dining location.
top

Q: What is the advantage of having flex dollars or a Freedom Plan?
A: Unlike losing cash, if you lose your Vandal Card, your meal funds are secure. Also unlike cash, you won’t look in your wallet at lunchtime and discover you’ve accidentally spent your Flex Dollars on video rentals or stamps. We DO NOT give discounts for cash sales. When you add more money to your flex account we will add 15% more in buying power. Example – add $100 and receive $115 on your account. When you purchase a Freedom Plan we will offer you a percent of FREE money depending on the plan you sign up for. Why pass up FREE money?
top

Q: If I use Flex Dollars in Bob's Place, how much does each meal cost?
A: Meal costs are:

* Breakfast $5.75
* Lunch / Brunch or Late Night $6.85
* Dinner $7.95
top

Q: Can I buy food with Vandal Dollars?
A: Yes. Vandal Dollars are accepted at all Campus Dining locations. You will receive a 5% discount on all purchases made with your Vandal dollars in all Campus Dining locations. If you are on a dining plan, the best value is to add money to your flex account or Freedom account. You will receive 15% extra buying power. Example – Add $100 and receive $115 on your account. When you add money to your Freedom Plan you will receive 10% extra buying power.
top

Q: Can I use my dining plan to feed others?
A: All Access and Weekly plans come with a certain number of free guest passes. Simply tell the cashier you want to use one and they will push a special button to access those meals. You may use your flex dollars to treat your family and friends at any Campus Dining location
top

Q: What if I don’t use all my meals or Flex Dollars?
A: On-Campus dining plans (including the flex dollars associated with these plans) expire on the last day of each semester. The Freedom Plan will expire on the last day of Spring Semester.  Use it or Lose it Policy.
top

Q: What are cash prices at Bob's Place?
A:

top

Q: What can you do to accommodate my special dietary needs?
A: We want you to eat well on campus. Let us know what you need and we will work toward a solution. Our nutrition site also offers information sheets for a variety of special diets.
