The idea of a fraternity or sorority is not a new one; in fact, it is as old as our country. Phi Beta Kappa was founded at 1776 at the College of William and Mary. Since that time the fraternity/sorority system has grown to include every state in the United States and parts of Canada. There are 28 national Greek letter organizations at the University of Idaho.

A fraternity or sorority is a group of men or women bound by a sense of brotherhood or sisterhood and a sense of purpose. Greek letter organizations strive to enhance your educational experience by emphasizing intellectual, interpersonal, and social development. All Greek Organizations are values-based organizations so it is important to connect with a group that matches your personal values.

Fraternity or sorority membership allow you to develop lifelong friendships and participation in an array of academic, leadership, athletic, and social activities. At the University of Idaho, we are confident that the diversity of organizations represented on campus will provide a fraternity/sorority experience that is right for you.
