Registration and Academic Advising

How do I apply?
Submit the following to the University of Idaho Undergraduate Admissions Office:

• An application for admission. Apply Online!

• $40 application fee (non-refundable).

• Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.

• High school records may aid in the scholarship selection process; submission of high school credentials, although not required, is recommended.

What are the admissions requirements?
Transfer students are selected from applicants with at least 14 transferable credits who present a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 on all college-level study attempted in all accredited colleges attended.  *Students transferring from out-of-state into the College of Engineering must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80. Other departments may have additional requirements pertaining to transfer students.

Will my credits transfer?
Evaluation of Transfer Credits. Upon admission of a transfer student, all credits earned or attempted and all grades received in college-level courses at accredited institutions are evaluated and core-curriculum determinations are made by the Registrar's Office. The registrar's office will contact students once their transfer course evaluations are completed. To see how your credits will transfer you can view our official transfer guides by visiting www.registrar.uidaho.edu

Transfer credit limitations?
A maximum of 70 credits earned at junior or community colleges, or one half of the total credits required for the student's intended baccalaureate degree program, whichever is the higher number, may be transferred to the University of Idaho.

Do I have to complete my Associates Degree to transfer to UI?
No. Transfer credits can be evaluated on a course-by-course basis for equivalency.

How do I find the degree requirements for my major at UI?
There are many resources that can help you find this information. The best place to start is the website of the department in which you are majoring. To find your department's website, visit the Campus Directory.  Other helpful web sites are the UI Catalog at www.uidaho.edu/catalog, and the Center for Academic Advising www.uidaho.edu/advising.

Are there scholarships for transfer students?
Yes. Please visit our financial aid website.

When can I visit campus?
We welcome your visit to campus any weekday. Your campus visit can include: Guided campus walking tour, Residence Hall / On-campus apartments / Family Housing Tours, Greek Chapter Tours,  advising sessions with professors, and a Financial Aid session.  Schedule your visit by contacting New Student Services at the information below, or visit their web site.
