  1. How much is the application processing fee?
The application fee is $55.00 for domestic, US applicants and $60.00 for international applicants.  The processing fee is non-refundable and needs to be received in the admissions office before we can process your application for admission.
  2. How long will it take to process my application?
Admission matters ultimately involve the departmental administrator, the Dean of Graduate Studies, and Graduate Admissions. Application procedures may begin with any of these persons; nonetheless, all application materials are to be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office. To provide time for evaluation and for notice of acceptance to reach the applicant before registration, the Graduate Admissions Office should receive applications and credentials from applicants by February 1 for fall semester entrance, by September 1 for spring semester entrance, and by February 1 for summer session entrance. However, some departments have earlier deadlines for assistantships.

  3. How do I find information about taking the TOEFL or GRE test?
The Student Counseling & Testing Center can provide dates and locations for the GRE and TOEFL tests offered at the U of I or a location nearest to you.

  4. How will I know which classes from my previous college(s) will transfer to UI?
Credits can be transferred to UI, with the consent of the student's committee and the Dean of Graduate Studies, only if the institution from which the course credits are being transferred has a graduate program in the course discipline or, should there be no graduate program in the course discipline, if an exception has been granted by the vice president. Transfer credits are subject to all other graduate college rules and regulations. General Information Regarding College of Graduate Studies Services and Forms.

  5. When is the Financial Aid application priority date?
To receive full consideration for merit-based scholarships, your admission materials (application for admission, application fee, transcripts, etc.) must be on file with the Graduate Admissions Office prior to February 15 prior to the semester of enrollment. For federal aid and need-based scholarships, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on filewith the US Department of Education Federal Processor by February 15th also. The Office of Student Financial Aid Services has more information about specific programs and applying for financial aid. Prioritydates and procedures for applying for assistantships are established by each academic department. Contact your academic department for more information.

  6. What will it cost to attend the University of Idaho?
Current cost estimates including tuition, room & board, books and miscellaneous expenses are available on the Financial Aid's cost homepage.

  7. How do I schedule a campus visit?

  10. Why do I need to speak to an academic advisor?
The University of Idaho College of Graduate Studies recommends all graduate students be advised before registering for classes each semester. You should contact your major department directly to find out who will serve as your major professor/advisor. You may use the toll free number 1-88-88-U-IDAHO and ask to be transferred to the appropriate department.

  14. How do I get a student ID card?
Student ID cards are available through the Vandal Card Office after you have been admitted and registered for classes.
