All admissions decisions are made at the departmental level with final admission granted by the College of Graduate Studies. Admission is granted only to a specific degree and program; and initial admission is granted for a specific semester or summer session. If an applicant does not register for the term indicated, it will be necessary for the applicant to notify the Graduate Admissions Office if he or she should desire to enter for a subsequent session or semester.
All decisions on transfer credits will be made by the Registrar's Office based on university transfer policy.
Admission application files will not be sent to the department for review until all required documents have been received by the Graduate Admissions Office.
Academic requirements:
Students who satisfy all criteria listed below will be considered for graduate admission to the University of Idaho:
(1) Have a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association. If the degree is from a recognized but not regionally accredited institution, the application will be reviewed by the department and by the College of Graduate Studies.
(2) Have an undergraduate grade-point average of 3.00 or higher for the last 60 semester credits (or 90 quarter credits) or an undergraduate cumulative grade-point average of 2.80 or higher,
(3) Have maintained at least a 2.80 grade-point average in subsequent academic work if any, and
(4) Have been reviewed and recommended for acceptance by the department administering the program in which the student seeks to enroll.
Students must submit:
- An application for admission.
- $55 application fee: this fee is non-refundable and cannot/ will not be waived and must be received before your application and supporting documents will be recorded, evaluated, or considered.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and/or university previously attended
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae
- Three (3) letters of recommendation
- A detailed, written statement of their academic and career objectives/goals
Please Note: To be considered official, transcripts of complete academic work from any school, college or university attended must be sent directly from that institution to our office. Faxes and photocopies are not considered official. Final admission is granted only when all official documents are received and have been evaluated. Transcripts of University of Idaho course work will be obtained for you by the graduate admissions office staff.

· All documents are subject to verification.
· All documents received by the University of Idaho become the property of the University of Idaho and will not be released to the applicant or third-party.
· The University of Idaho evaluates credentials earned through formal academic training only. Applicants should NOT submit documentation of non-formal, non-academic training with their application; as such documents will not be evaluated.
Some colleges require submission of additional documents. Contact the department to which you are applying to determine if there are additional requirements.
