NATIVE AMERICAN AFFAIRS WEBSITE
To assist in the implementation of the UI Memorandum of Understanding signed with various tribes in the Northwest, the Office of Diversity and Human Rights in 2002 developed a Native American Affairs web page in coordination with other UI departments serving Native American populations. The website transitioned to the Office of Multicultural Affairs in June 2004, and we are pleased to continue the efforts.
Our hope is to use this web site as a tool to assist us in not only strengthening current outreach initiatives, but to build upon existing programs within the University of Idaho so that we can better serve the Native American community.
Some of our goals include but are not limited to:
- Work with the Native American Advisory Board in the development of programs designed to recruit and retain Native American students.
- Strengthen outreach initiatives through increased internal collaboration efforts.
- Develop partnerships that match UI and local expertise to identified community needs and aspirations.
- Identify and apply for external funding and leverage internal UI and community resources to support initiatives.
