Petition for Reinstatement of Financial Aid
|
|
 |
Students wishing to appeal their suspension of financial aid should contact the Dean’s Office in the college in which they are enrolled. Graduate students should contact the College of Graduate Studies; law students should contact the College of Law. Students may appeal to the academic college from which they were enrolled at the time of suspension or the academic college for which they are currently enrolled.
Any special circumstances concerning the student’s academic progress for student financial aid will be reviewed on an individual basis. The Director of Student Financial Aid Services may reinstate a student based on special circumstances unique to that student.
· If you have been suspended from financial aid due to missing grade transcripts for your exchange/agreement program outside of the University of Idaho through the study abroad, national student exchange, concurrent agreement with North Idaho College, or a consortium agreement with another institution, a re-evaluation of your academic progress at the institution you attended, will be done once your transcript is on file with the Registrar Office at the University of Idaho. Students can provide an unofficial grade transcript to Student Financial Aid Services, expedite the re-evaluation of your credits and remove the suspension hold if you meet the 75% ruling.
· If the suspension is due to an incomplete course, your suspension can be re-evaluated after the grades have been posted. This re-evaluation can be reviewed by either the Student Financial Aid Services or the Dean's Office of your college.
· If you have unusual circumstances that caused your loss of eligibility not listed above, you, may petition for a recommendation to reinstate your financial aid. To do so, you should submit a written request to the Dean's Office in your college.
Upon receiving a written petition from the student, the student’s academic dean (or designee) may recommend a waiver of all satisfactory academic progress criteria due to special circumstances in a signed memorandum sent to the Director of Student Financial Aid Services. If the petition is denied, the director will review the recommendation and make the final determination of whether to waive the suspension for the student. The decision of the academic college and the Director of Student Financial Aid Services may be appealed to the Student Financial Aid Committee and then to the Administrative Hearing Board.
You may also be reconsidered for aid after successfully completing one semester at the UI as a full-time student without federal financial aid if your suspension is due to failure to meet 75% of your attempted credits at the time of the census date or meeting the institutional accumulated GPA. Successful completion is defined as completing 12 credits as an undergraduate with a 2.0, 9 credits as a graduate student with a 3.0, or 10 credits as a law student with a 2.0. After you have completed the semester at our institution, you must submit a written request for reinstatement of your eligibility to Student Financial Aid Services.
If the petition is granted, the suspension will be waived and all federal financial aid/eligibility will be reinstated in full. You will be notified of the decision. Any decision can be viewed by logging on your Vandal Web at www.uidaho.edu under "Student Financial Aid & Scholarships"
