Q:  What is Vandal Challenge?

A: The Vandal Challenge is a Leadership Conference initiated by the
student organization OELA (Organización de Estudiantes Latino
Americanos) at the University of Idaho. The purpose of this program is
to help motivate Mexican-American/Hispanic students to graduate
from high school and go on to apply, attend and graduate from a
    college or University.

The leadership conference is held annually during the Fall semester of the
academic year.  OELA is pleased to announce that the 2009 OELA Vandal
Challenge Leadership Conference will be held on November 5-8, 2009 at
    the University of Idaho campus.

Q:  How is the event advertised to students?

A: OELA will communicate the conference dates and links to the
on-line application with high school counselors and other student
advocates beginning in April of every year.

OELA also maintains this website where copies of the counselor letters,
student letters, on-line applications, and other needed forms are posted
    for immediate and easy access.

OELA also works closely with the University of Idaho recruiters to help
share information about Vandal Challenge through when they visit high
schools in southern Idaho from Weiser, ID to Idaho Falls, ID.

Q:  What do selected participants do during the conference?

    confirm participation.

Q:  How many students are selected to participate?

A:  In previous years, only 25 students were selected to participate
in the Vandal Challenge Leadership Conference; however,
due to the strong support of the University of Idaho we are happy to
announce that for the 2007 Vandal Challenge Leadership Conference
we will be inviting 40 students to participate.

Therefore, it is advisable to submit your application early so that you may
be among this year's participants.  Please note that the application
    process is competitive.

Q:  How much does it cost to participate?

A:  Lodging, meals, and roundtrip transportation is paid for by OELA and
their sponsors. This program is free to student participants; however,
student participants are free to bring spending money if they desire.
