The first job of a university is to prepare students to lead full and productive lives. Because we know the lives of most college graduates change direction at least a few times, the staff and faculty are committed to providing a wide variety of academic and co-curricular experiences to prepare students for what lies ahead. This commitment is what separates a University of Idaho education from training in a technical school.

The UI’s Core Curriculum is at the heart of this broad university experience. Academic advisors help students select from several courses outside the academic major. Together, these are the classes known as the Core Curriculum or general education requirements.
