Core Clusters
Requirements prior to 2008

To complete 18 credits of General Core Studies, each student enrolls in three courses from at least two different academic disciplines (or subjects) in the Cluster they choose (for a minimum 8 credits). One of those three courses is an upper-division course. Honors students can choose to take an upper-division Honors course to complete part of their 18-credit Core Curriculum requirements.

Core Discovery courses in Clusters are not considered discipline courses so can’t be used to complete the two-academic discipline requirement.

Choosing a cluster is as easy as 1-2-3

  • Find one upper division (300+) course of interest
  • Choose a class each in two disciplines of interest.
  • Together these total three classes required to fulfill the cluster requirement.
