University of Idaho Summer Reading Program |
|
 |
Welcome to the University of Idaho Summer Reading Program! This program is for all incoming freshman to the University of Idaho. Transfer students are also encouraged to participate.
This program is designed to give students a common academic experience before arriving on campus and help students see how various disciplines take different perspectives on a common read. All incoming students are expected to complete the book before arriving on campus this fall.
1 Dead in Attic-After Katrina by Chris Rose has been selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and students.A facilitated discussion about the book will take place on Sunday August 24, 2008 at 3pm. This will be part of the orientation activities. Many CORE classes, Introduction classes, and English 90/101 will also be using this book in the fall so it is important to read the book before arriving on campus.

| The Summer Reading Program exemplifies the activities that the University of Idaho values through the University-wide Learning Outcomes such as learning to integrate material across disciplines, thinking about cultural issues and relating those to real world problems and solutions, and communicating through discussion with peers, faculty, and staff in a respectful and understanding setting that fosters an academically inclusive environment. |
