WOMENS CENTER RETIRES WOMENSWORKS HOLIDAY ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR
The staff of the Women's Center is sad to announce that the 2010 WomensWorks Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair was the last show that our office will host. Regrettably, the event is no longer feasible--either financially or logistically--for our office to organize. We are so very grateful to all our vendors and shoppers for 15 wonderful years of helping us to promote women's creative and artistic talents on the Palouse! Thank you for your support of the fair, and your continuing support of the Women's Center. You are the reason the show was a success!

PALOUSE WOMEN ARTISTS TAKE ON WOMENSWORKS!
The local women artists cooperative, Palouse Women Artists, is planning to host this year's WomensWorks! This year's show will be held on Saturday, November 5 at the Eastside Marketplace in Moscow, ID. For more information, please contact Katherine Clancy at kclancy@uidaho.edu.
WHAT IS WOMENSWORKS?
Since 1995, the WomensWorks Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair has featured 40-50 women artists from around the Pacific Northwest region. Every year, the U of I Student Union Ballroom was transformed into a magical, festive landscape of jewelry, handmade cards and prints, beadwork, fiber art, pottery, stained glass, candles, soaps, hand-blown glass, handmade paper journals, quilts, and more. In addition to being able to peruse a dazzling variety of artwork and crafts by local women artists, shoppers enjoyed delicious international dishes, homemade desserts, and baked goods prepared by student groups and independent caterers. Live instrumental holiday music was often provided by local musicians, and raffles of artist-donated items took place throughout the fair.
HISTORY
Originally started by local raku potter Rebecca Rod – who is still producing art, but is now also the Program Coordinator for the LGBTQA Office on campus – the event grew from a small, four-person show in the old Women’s Center building on the U of I campus, to a a two-day extravaganza of quality arts and crafts, international food, and live music. Proceeds from WomensWorks, including shopper and artist donations and raffle ticket sales, benefitted the Women's Center's Betsy Thomas Gender Equity Scholarship and Women's Center programs.
